SUMMARY:Laser Cutter Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use the laser cutter in the NE Seattle Tool Library Woodshop! This class is required to use our in-house xTool M1 laser cutter.\n\n\nOpen up endless creative possibilities with laser cutting! In this class\, students will learn how to navigate the xTool Studio software to set up their designs and operate the xTool M1 laser cutter. The laser is able to cut and engrave a wide variety of materials\, like wood\, paper\, opaque acrylic\, and fabric. No previous experience is required. \nTaking the Laser Cutter Orientation is required to use our in-house laser cutter. You must also be a Seattle REconomy tool library member (NE Seattle Tool Library/Shoreline Tool Library) to take this class. Become a member here! \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income. If cost is a concern\, we encourage you to contact us at info@seattlereconomy.org to discuss options. \nACCESSIBILITY: \n\nMuch of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible. All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant.\nNon-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events\, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.\nPlease contact us with any accessibility notes or requests.\n\nGETTING THERE: \n\nBy transit: Served by King County Metro bus route 372 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St. Route 61 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.\nBy bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library\, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.\nCar parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars\, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.

Explore the dual nature of weeds in the Shoreline and Seattle areas\, learning how some can benefit your garden while others can cause harm. \nAbout the instructor\, Lelia Lincoln: Lelia is a long-time teacher and gardener\, and wants to teach others about weeds and their role in your garden\, yard and parks. \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income. \nACCESSIBILITY: \n\nThe venue is wheelchair accessible and has an all-gender restroom.
