SUMMARY:3D Printer Orientation: Foundations of CAD @ NESTL
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use our 3D printers and about 3D modeling. 3D Printer Orientation is necessary to use our in-house Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers.\n\n\nLearn how to find\, prepare\, and print 3D models on our Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers! No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover where to source 3D models online\, how to slice files using Prusa Slicer\, and how to operate the machine. In addition\, this class will include an introduction to CAD with onshape. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to the class and download Prusa Slicer and create an onshape account\, but it is not required. \nIf you are not interested in learning 3D modeling\, check out our other class—3D Printer Orientation: The Basics. \nTaking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. You must also be a member of NE Seattle Tool Library or Shoreline Tool Library to take this class. Become a member here! \nWe also have 3D Printer Orientations at the Shoreline Tool Library\, and completing one there gives members access to all of our tool library 3D printers. SUMMARY:Fix-It Night at the Shoreline Tool Library
DESCRIPTION:Bring by your broken household items for a night of fixing and community building at the Shoreline Tool Library!\n\n\nIt’s time to start collecting all those items around the house that need to be fixed but you don’t know how. We are hosting a repair night at the Shoreline Tool Library. We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools\, lamps\, toys\, furniture\, appliances\, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. We encourage you to help as much as you can and enjoy the community of reuse! \nIf you are excited about fixing and want to help out with this event or other fixing opportunities we are looking for more fixers. You will also learn how making picture frames teaches precision; every cut must be exact for perfect corners. DESCRIPTION:Work with a bike shack volunteer to learn how to tune up your bicycle!\n\n\nSpend an evening at the NE Seattle Tool Library learning the basics of maintaining your bike. Bring your own bike and learn from hands-on experience by addressing your specific needs\, such as gear\, brake\, and bearing adjustments\, wheel truing and bike fit. You’ll also gain a better understanding of common noises and their causes and solutions. All in service to making your ride experience better and helping your bike last longer. \nAbout the Instructor\, Russ Steele: \nBasic Bike Maintenance is taught by Bike Shack volunteer Russ Steele\, former owner/manager of Wedgwood Cycle. Growing up in his father’s bike shop\, Russ literally has 60+ years of experience. \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries.
