DESCRIPTION:Bring by your broken household items for a night of fixing and community building at the NE Seattle Tool Library!\n\n\nIt’s time to start collecting all those items around the house that need to be fixed but you don’t know how. We are hosting a repair night at the NE Seattle Tool Library. We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools\, lamps\, toys\, furniture\, appliances\, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. We encourage you to help as much as you can and enjoy the community of reuse! \nIf you are excited about fixing and want to help out with this event or other fixing opportunities we are looking for more fixers. Sign up to help out at this event here or join our list of fixers by sending us an email at NESTL@seattlereconomy.org. \nACCESSIBILITY: \n\nMuch of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible.  All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant. \nNon-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events\, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.\nPlease contact us with any accessibility notes or requests. \n\nGETTING THERE: \n\nBy transit: Served by King County Metro bus route 372 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St.  Route 61 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.\nBy bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library\, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.\nCar parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars\, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your textiles in need of mending for a night of repair and community at the NE Seattle Tool Library.\n\n\nNeed help getting your fabric back in tip-top shape? Come to NESTL the 4th Tuesday of each month for Fabric Fix-It! \nWe will have menders on site who can either offer advice on mending\, or mend textiles for you. If your project goals are out of the scope of what we can accomplish in one evening\, we will help you make a plan to carry out on your own. \nSome common fixes include: hemming\, patching small holes\, reattaching buttons\, and fixing or replacing zippers. \nThis will be our first fabric fix-it\, so we will be limiting it to 2 items per person. If we find our menders are able to get items fixed\, we would love to expand it to more! Feel free to bring supplies to fix your item\, if you have them. We will have some supplies on hand. Do you have some gently used clothes you’d like to move along for others to have?\n\n\nJoin the Shoreline Tool Library on August 24\, 2025 from 10:00am to 1:00pm for a Clothing Swap. Bring clothes you’d like to share and take clothes you’d like to wear! You can browse the organized tables and racks and take whatever you’d like. It’s all free! \nAnd if you find something almost perfect at the Clothing Swap that needs a little love or adjustment\, we’ll have Volunteer Menders on hand to help you make changes to make your new piece of clothing perfect. Or\, they’ll provide guidance and advice on what you might do to make it perfect. \nPlease RSVP if you plan on attending the Clothing Swap and Mending Fair! If you would only like to donate\, you do not need to RSVP for this event. \nHow to donate: All donated clothes should be dropped off at the Shoreline Tool Library on August 24 between 9:00-9:30am. If you are donating clothes\, we know you might be eager to see what others are donating. We ask that after you drop off your donation\, you return at 10:00am to look over the Clothing Swap.  \nWhat to donate/expect: Adult-sized tops\, bottoms\, outerwear\, shoes\, and clothing accessories. We’ll also be accepting children’s clothing in good and clean condition.  \nThis Clothing Swap is funded in part by a City of Shoreline 2025 Environmental Mini-Grant. Do you have potatoes you bought that you don’t think you’ll be able to use before they start growing eyes? Did you meal prep too much bean salad this week? DESCRIPTION:An introduction to power saws for all women\, including cisgender and transgender women\, as well as nonbinary folks.\n\n\nThis class is intended for all women\, including cisgender and transgender women\, as well as nonbinary people who feel comfortable in a space centered on the experiences of women. Instructor Lynette\, a cisgender woman\, will lead this class on commonly used power saws – circular\, miter/chop\, table\, and jig. \nThis is a beginner class geared toward those who have no or very little experience using these tools. Attendees will learn about saw anatomy\, how to choose the correct saw for various tasks while emphasizing safety and workspace set up. There will be sewing machines\, fabric\, thread and community\, as well as hot tea. \nThis will not be a class format\, while there will be experienced menders present to offer advice and counsel\, this is intended as a co-working space. \nCan’t make it to this one? We plan to host it on the second weekend of each month: The second Saturday at the Shoreline Tool Library and the second Sunday at the NE Seattle Tool Library! As it grows\, we may change it to a different day\, but we’ll let you know on social media.

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use our 3D printers and about 3D modeling. 3D Printer Orientation is necessary to use our in-house Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers.\n\n\nLearn how to find\, prepare\, and print 3D models on our Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers! No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover where to source 3D models online\, how to slice files using Prusa Slicer\, and how to operate the machine. In addition\, this class will include an introduction to CAD with onshape. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to the class and download Prusa Slicer and create an onshape account\, but it is not required. \nIf you are not interested in learning 3D modeling\, check out our other class—3D Printer Orientation: The Basics. \nTaking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. You must also be a member of NE Seattle Tool Library or Shoreline Tool Library to take this class. Become a member here! \nWe also have 3D Printer Orientations at the NE Seattle Tool Library\, and completing one there gives members access to all of our tool library 3D printers. You may view our full list of upcoming 3D Printer Orientations (both The Basics and Foundations of CAD) here. \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. DESCRIPTION:Work with a bike shack volunteer to learn how to tune up your bicycle!\n\n\nSpend an evening at the Shoreline Tool Library learning the basics of maintaining your bike. Bring your own bike and learn from hands-on experience by addressing your specific needs\, such as gear\, brake\, and bearing adjustments\, wheel truing and bike fit. You’ll also gain a better understanding of common noises and their causes and solutions. All in service to making your ride experience better and helping your bike last longer. \nAbout the Instructor\, Russ Steele: \nBasic Bike Maintenance is taught by Bike Shack volunteer Russ Steele\, former owner/manager of Wedgwood Cycle.
