SUMMARY:Woodshop Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Learn the basic safety of our woodworking tools. Woodshop Orientation is necessary to use our Woodshop during our Woodshop Open Hours.\n\n\nSign up for Woodshop Orientation to learn the basic safety of the tools that we have in our Woodshop. This will give you the basic training required to safely utilize our various woodworking tools\, and it will give you the prerequisite to use the space during Woodshop Open Hours. \nThe space is equipped with a large SawStop table saw\, 12″ compound sliding miter saw\, 2 band saws (one for resaw)\, drill press\, router table\, jointer\, planer\, spindle sander\, scroll saw\, and various hand tools. \nPrerequisite: \nYou must be a Seattle REconomy tool library (NE Seattle Tool Library/Shoreline Tool Library) member to take this class. There are suggested membership options\, but membership is pay-what-you-can\, and we do not require proof of income. Learn more about becoming a member here! \nEmail us at NESTL@seattlereconomy.org if you have any questions on Woodshop usage. Please come to the East entrance of the NE Seattle Tool Library at the time of the class. When you arrive through that entrance\, the Wookshop is through the door in the left corner of the space. \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. DESCRIPTION:Bring by your broken household items for a night of fixing and community building at the NE Seattle Tool Library!\n\n\nIt’s time to start collecting all those items around the house that need to be fixed but you don’t know how. We are hosting a repair night at the NE Seattle Tool Library. We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools\, lamps\, toys\, furniture\, appliances\, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use Onshape\, a CAD software\, to model basic parts. This is not a 3D Printer Orientation.\n\n\nLearn how to create basic parts in the CAD software Onshape! No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover the basic aspects of parametric modeling\, including creating fully constrained sketches and turning sketches into bodies. Although this class is geared toward learning CAD specifically for 3D Printing\, this is NOT a 3D Printing Orientation class and will NOT cover how to use our in-house printers. \nYou are encouraged to bring your own laptop and mouse to the class and download Prusa Slicer and create an onshape account\, but it is not required. \nAlthough this class is geared toward learning CAD specifically for 3D Printing\, this is NOT a 3D Printing Orientation class and will NOT cover how to use our in-house printers. If you would like to use the tool library 3D printers\, you must take 3D Printer Orientation: The Basics\, which will teach you how to find\, prepare\, and print 3D models on our Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers. Taking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. DESCRIPTION:Learn the basic safety of our woodworking tools. Woodshop Orientation is necessary to use our Woodshop during our Woodshop Open Hours.\n\n\nSign up for Woodshop Orientation to learn the basic safety of the tools that we have in our Woodshop. This will give you the basic training required to safely utilize our various woodworking tools\, and it will give you the prerequisite to use the space during Woodshop Open Hours. \nThe space is equipped with a large SawStop table saw\, 12″ compound sliding miter saw\, 2 band saws (one for resaw)\, drill press\, router table\, jointer\, planer\, spindle sander\, scroll saw\, and various hand tools. \nPrerequisite: \nYou must be a Seattle REconomy tool library (NE Seattle Tool Library/Shoreline Tool Library) member to take this class. There are suggested membership options\, but membership is pay-what-you-can\, and we do not require proof of income. This is for folks who feel a little intimidated about starting a woodworking project and would like personalized guidance and advice. Of course\, if you cannot find an open spot in Woodshop Open Hours: Project Support that fits your schedule\, you are welcome to sign up for Woodshop Open Hours\, regardless of your experience. You may just not receive personal guidance from the Woodshop Steward (though many of our Woodshop Stewards can provide some personalized support). \nACCESSIBILITY:  \n\nMuch of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible.  All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant. \nNon-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events\, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.\nPlease contact us with any accessibility notes or requests. \n\nGETTING THERE: \n\nBy transit: Served by King County Metro bus route 372 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St.  Route 61 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.\nBy bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library\, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.\nCar parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars\, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.
