DESCRIPTION:Bring your textiles in need of mending for a night of repair and community at the NE Seattle Tool Library.\n\n\nNeed help getting your fabric back in tip-top shape? Come to NESTL the 4th Tuesday of each month for Fabric Fix-It! \nWe will have menders on site who can either offer advice on mending\, or mend textiles for you. If your project goals are out of the scope of what we can accomplish in one evening\, we will help you make a plan to carry out on your own. \nSome common fixes include: hemming\, patching small holes\, reattaching buttons\, and fixing or replacing zippers. \nThis will be our first fabric fix-it\, so we will be limiting it to 2 items per person. If we find our menders are able to get items fixed\, we would love to expand it to more! Feel free to bring supplies to fix your item\, if you have them. We will have some supplies on hand. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use our 3D printers. 3D Printer Orientation is necessary to use our in-house Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers.\n\n\nLearn how to find\, prepare\, and print 3D models on our Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers! No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover where to source 3D models online\, how to slice files using Prusa Slicer\, and how to operate the machine. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to the class and download Prusa Slicer by clicking here\, but it is not required. \nThis class will not include a 3D modeling aspect. If you are interested in learning 3D modeling\, check out our other class—3D Printer Orientation: Foundations of CAD \nTaking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. You must also be a member of NE Seattle Tool Library or Shoreline Tool Library to take this class. Become a member here! \nWe also have 3D Printer Orientations at the Shoreline Tool Library\, and completing one there gives members access to all of our tool library 3D printers. Jennifer will provide tips and tricks for preparing these meals at home and serving them on the trail. \nShe started preparing her own dehydrated backpacking meals because she wanted them to be lightweight/low volume\, easy to prepare (she just adds boiling water and waits)\, and healthy (less sodium\, more vegetables\, enough protein). As a backpacker who’s not getting any younger\, Jennifer’s pack needs to be as light as she can make it and personalized nutrition helps keep her going. No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover where to source 3D models online\, how to slice files using Prusa Slicer\, and how to operate the machine. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to the class and download Prusa Slicer by clicking here\, but it is not required. \nThis class will not include a 3D modeling aspect. If you are interested in learning 3D modeling\, check out our other class—3D Printer Orientation: Foundations of CAD \nTaking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. DESCRIPTION:Table saws are extremely useful tools\, so let’s review basic safety and use to give you the knowledge to operate them with confidence.\n\n\nThis class is for people who want to use a table saw but are apprehensive about safety. There’s a good reason for this apprehension\, as the table saw is one of the most dangerous tools in a shop; but it’s also one of the most useful. This class will cover both the safety basics and the first steps in actually using the saw to turn a piece of lumber into a piece of wood that you want; ripping\, cross-cutting\, etc. It is NOT to teach people how to make one thing or another\, but rather to give them the skills to use the table saw confidently and safely. \nAbout the instructor\, Geoff Poor: Geoff is Shoreline Tool Library volunteer and has instructed many people in the principles of safe and productive table saw usage. He is a retired educator who spent 27 years rehabbing an 1875 house in western New York.
