DESCRIPTION:Learn the basic safety of our woodworking tools. Woodshop Orientation is necessary to use our Woodshop during our Woodshop Open Hours.\n\n\nSign up for Woodshop Orientation to learn the basic safety of the tools that we have in our Woodshop. This will give you the basic training required to safely utilize our various woodworking tools\, and it will give you the prerequisite to use the space during Woodshop Open Hours. \nThe space is equipped with a large SawStop table saw\, 12″ compound sliding miter saw\, 2 band saws (one for resaw)\, drill press\, router table\, jointer\, planer\, spindle sander\, scroll saw\, and various hand tools. \nPrerequisite: \nYou must be a Seattle REconomy tool library (NE Seattle Tool Library/Shoreline Tool Library) member to take this class. There are suggested membership options\, but membership is pay-what-you-can\, and we do not require proof of income. Learn more about becoming a member here! \nEmail us at ava@seattlereconomy.org if you have any questions on Woodshop usage. Please come to the East entrance of the NE Seattle Tool Library at the time of the class. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use the laser cutter in the NE Seattle Tool Library Woodshop! This class is required to use our in-house xTool M1 laser cutter.\n\n\nOpen up endless creative possibilities with laser cutting! In this class\, students will learn how to navigate the xTool Studio software to set up their designs and operate the xTool M1 laser cutter. The laser is able to cut and engrave a wide variety of materials\, like wood\, paper\, opaque acrylic\, and fabric. No previous experience is required. \nTaking the Laser Cutter Orientation is required to use our in-house laser cutter. You must also be a Seattle REconomy tool library member (NE Seattle Tool Library/Shoreline Tool Library) to take this class. Honestly\, any craft is welcome\, but we will only be providing sewing supplies (at least at first). There will be sewing machines\, fabric\, thread and community\, as well as hot tea. \nThis will not be a class format\, while there will be experienced menders present to offer advice and counsel\, this is intended as a co-working space. \nCan’t make it to this one? If you have more items to be fixed\, feel free to bring them\, but we will prioritize fixing a few things for everyone over multple items for the same person! Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer\, you haven’t been back in a while\, or you’re brand new\, everyone is welcome! \nWe’ll cover everything you need to know to check in and out tools\, assist members\, and answer all of your questions. We’ll also go over other ways to volunteer\, including beautification\, outreach\, inventory\, fixing tools\, and steering committees.
