DESCRIPTION:Work with a bike shack volunteer to learn how to tune up your bicycle!\n\n\nSpend an evening at the Shoreline Tool Library learning the basics of maintaining your bike. Bring your own bike and learn from hands-on experience by addressing your specific needs\, such as gear\, brake\, and bearing adjustments\, wheel truing and bike fit. You’ll also gain a better understanding of common noises and their causes and solutions. All in service to making your ride experience better and helping your bike last longer. \nAbout the Instructor\, Russ Steele: \nBasic Bike Maintenance is taught by Bike Shack volunteer Russ Steele\, former owner/manager of Wedgwood Cycle. Growing up in his father’s bike shop\, Russ literally has 60+ years of experience. \nOur sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy\, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. No previous knowledge is required. This class will cover where to source 3D models online\, how to slice files using Prusa Slicer\, and how to operate the machine. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to the class and download Prusa Slicer by clicking here\, but it is not required. \nThis class will not include a 3D modeling aspect. If you are interested in learning 3D modeling\, check out our other class—3D Printer Orientation: Foundations of CAD \nTaking the 3D Printer Orientation is required to use our in-house printers. Jennifer will provide tips and tricks for preparing these meals at home and serving them on the trail. \nShe started preparing her own dehydrated backpacking meals because she wanted them to be lightweight/low volume\, easy to prepare (she just adds boiling water and waits)\, and healthy (less sodium\, more vegetables\, enough protein). As a backpacker who’s not getting any younger\, Jennifer’s pack needs to be as light as she can make it and personalized nutrition helps keep her going. Come mend with us! \nOur Community Threads mending and sewing circle is a monthly event for anyone to work on their textile projects. Any textile craft is welcome! Honestly\, any craft is welcome\, but we will only be providing sewing supplies (at least at first). There will be sewing machines\, fabric\, thread and community\, as well as hot tea. \nThis will not be a class format\, while there will be experienced menders present to offer advice and counsel\, this is intended as a co-working space. \nCan’t make it to this one?
