Redistribution Partners

Because of a very generous grant from King County Solid Waste’s RE+ program, the Shoreline Tool Library is partnering with Furniture Repair Bank, KidVantage, and Seattle REcreative to begin accepting a wider range of materials donations. This will include small furniture, children’s goods, art supplies, and other various items. 

Please note that this is a limited list of what we can accept on their behalf.

Kidvantage

Kidvatage helps families and their children by providing essential goods that allows kids to grow, play, learn and thrive. These items goes to families who are experiencing the stresses of economic insecurity, systemic inequities, and/or family disruption.

Below is a list of what we are accepting for them. Please note that items do not have to be perfect, but they should be in relatively good and safe condition. If you would like to see the larger list of items they accept at their locations, you may visit their website here.

Accepted Items

  • Clothes in good condition without stains or holes (size newborn to 14)
  • Shoes sizes 9 child to 5 youth
  • Working strollers with correct straps
  • Clean bedding
  • Maternity clothes
  • Working toys

Not Accepted Items

  • Car seats
  • Sports equipment
  • Diapers

Furniture Repair Bank

Furniture Repair Bank collects items that would be headed for the landfill. They repair and restore these items to help provide for refugees and low-income families and individuals. Their aim is to reduce waste, empower the community, and increase access to quality furniture.

Below is a list of what we are accepting for them. Items can have some damage or missing pieces. Please note that they mostly furnish small apartments, so furniture should accommodate smaller living spaces. Accepted Items

  • Narrow dressers
  • Coffee tables
  • Nightstands and side tables
  • Dining tables for 2-4 people
  • Upholstered fabric

Not Accepted Items

  • Particle board items
  • Items with large amounts of water damage
  • Large furniture (wardrobes, large dressers, large dining tables, ect.)

Seattle ReCreative

Seattle ReCreative promotes creativity, community, and environmental stewardship through creative reuse and arts education. They redistribute used materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill to the community. Proceeds from the resale of these goods helps fund their arts programming and supply free creative materials and workshops to the community.

Below is a list of what we are accepting for them. Please note that items can be broken and missing, but it must be clear what the item is. Partially used and partial packs are gladly accepted! Accepted Items

  • Sewing: Fabric larger than 1/4 yard or fat quarter (no scraps, no clothing, no curtains / linens) and sewing related notions including ribbon/ trim
  • Fiber crafts: Yarn of all types and lengths, crochet hooks, and knitting needles
  • General craft supplies: Scissors, glue/glue guns, pipe cleaners, pom poms, jingle bells, markers and crayons
  • Fine art supplies: Paint (acrylic, watercolor, & oil), brushes,  sponges, palette knives, palettes, paper, pads, canvas, stretchers, charcoal, pastels, pencils, pens, marker, printmaking supplies

Not Accepted Items

  • Items that need to be processed (half done projects, etc.)
  • Unlabeled/self-labeled jars of liquid
  • Items with strong odor/mildew/pet hair
  • Yarn with moth damage
