October 19 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Free - $10.00
Learn winterizing tips, soil care, season extension, and seed saving for year-round health.

Put your garden to bed but not to sleep! Preparing the garden for winter, or winterizing the garden, is an important part of growing a healthy garden all year round! Learn different methods for covering your garden beds to keep your soil healthy including using mulches, cover crops, and physical barriers. We will also discuss season extension methods and seed saving basics.

About the instructor, Marni Swart: Marni Swart is a certified sustainable urban agriculturist, garden coach, edible garden/Permaculture designer, nursery woman, and owner of Growing Roots Together. Marni’s passion is teaching people how to sustainably grow more of their own food and medicine as a way of building connections with nature and within communities. She has been teaching sustainable urban agriculture for over 10 years and to many different groups including libraries, online classes, and garden clubs. She also teaches Vegetable Production at Edmonds College for the horticulture department.

We have limited spots for this class, so if you’re unable to attend, please cancel your RSVP to allow others the opportunity to sign up.

The 2025 Shoreline Sustainable Skill Series is brought to you by Seattle REconomy. Funding for this series has been provided by the City of Shoreline’s Environmental Mini-Grant Program. We are excited to offer the classes in this series at a highly discounted rate. (Please email info@seattlereconomy.org if the $10 fee is a barrier, and we will waive it.)
