Throughout the afternoon into the evening, we’ll have a variety of fun, festive activities planned! Below is an approximate plan for the event:

• 2–5pm: Costume Sewing and Swap
• 4–7pm: Cider Pressing
• 5–6pm: Music Setup
• 6–6:15pm: A word from Seattle REconomy
• 6:15–9:30: Party Time (Food, Music, and Merriment)

Costume Crafting & Swap at 2–5pm: Visit a variety of maker stations, where you can create, enhance, or swap your Halloween costume(s)! There will be reclaimed materials and tools, including light sewing supplies and fabric, to design and build a costume from scratch, plus expert sewists to help make your dreams a reality. Some materials will be for sale through our partners, and we encourage you to bring your own. Tables will be set up throughout the space for folks who would like to work independently, while chatting with other creatives working on their own projects. We’ll also have Menders available who can hem garments, repair clothing, and attach embellishments.

Cider Pressing at 4–7: We’re reserving a couple of cider presses from the tool libraries, and there will be a couple of stations set up for folks to press apples. While we’re connecting with some local produce stands and grocers for apples, bringing your own is highly encouraged. This activity may take place outside under canopies.

Shifting to Music and Dance, Guest Arrival, and Final Setup at 5–6pm: Come in, explore the space, and talk with fellow community members as we set up the space for the rest of the night. The band will be getting ready, and we’ll be putting out more refreshments and food. Folks will still have some dedicated space to continue working on their costumes.

Welcome from Seattle REconomy around 6pm: Gage Glupker, the Program Manager of Reuse Lake City, alongside Josh Epstein, the Executive Director of Seattle REconomy, the operator of the space, will be formally welcoming everyone into the space and introducing folks to our partners and ongoing activities. At this point, everything for the evening festivities will be just about set up!

Halloween Hootenanny Activity Areas at 6–7:30pm: It’s time to mingle, dance, and eat some food! Cascade Cody & the Washington Apples will be playing live music throughout the evening, and there will be a dedicated dance space for those who want to throw down on the proper Hootenanny! Seattle ReCreative will continue offering free-form costume-making space and related materials. There will also be a food, refreshments, and hangout area with food from local restaurants and comfortable seating. We’ll have plenty of food, but you’re welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share with the community!

Costume Showcase around 7pm: Everyone is invited to join a community dance-line runway to celebrate their handmade costumes. Rather than a contest, Cascade Cody will lead this opportunity for every participant to be recognized, celebrated, and cheered on by the community.

More Celebrating at 7:45–9:30pm: Continue the festivities into the night! There will be live music, dancing, community booths, food, photo opportunities, and creative maker spaces.

Note about costumes: While wearing costumes is encouraged, you are not allowed to bring real, fake, or toy weapons. This includes, but is not limited to, plastic swords, toy guns, and replica knives. Please wear respectful costumes.

• Much of the venue is wheelchair accessible. The facility has an ADA-compliant all-gender restroom.
• Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our events. However, attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.

GETTING THERE:

• By transit: Served by bus route 522 from Roosevelt Station, or route 61 from Northgate Station
• By bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the Reuse Commons, and you are welcome to park your bicycle in the back of the building where a volunteer will be present for parking coordination.
• Car parking: There will be a large parking lot with volunteer coordination throughout the event. Guests will be required to exit the parking area at the conclusion of the event. There is additional street parking along Lake City Way NE if you would prefer.
