Second Chance Plants with Plantbaby @ RCLC

November 10 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
$30.00 - $40.00
Give a scraggly, overgrown plant a fresh start or learn how to propagate it into new plants! You can bring your own or use one of ours.

This hands-on class covers the basics of plant propagation, including stem and leaf cuttings, division, and water propagation. You’ll learn where and how to make cuts, which methods work best for different plants, and how propagation can transform tired, leggy plants into beautiful new ones.

You can bring your own plant from home, or you can use one of ours!

About the instructor, Jay Galligher: Jay is a native Washingtonian, a Master Gardener–trained plant educator, and the founder of plantbaby, Seattle’s sustainable plant marketplace. Through plantbaby, he connects plant lovers with locally grown houseplants while promoting peat-free soil, reclaimed materials, and environmentally responsible growing practices. Learn more about plantbaby at www.plantbaby.io or follow @plantbabypnw on Instagram or TikTok.

Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy or our hosting partners at Reuse Commons Lake City. Please choose the level that best fits your household’s income. If cost is a concern, we encourage you to contact us at info@seattlereconomy.org to discuss options. This class is supported by the Seattle Office of Economic Development (OED) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU).

ACCESSIBILITY:

  • Much of the venue is wheelchair accessible. Some classes may utilize the balcony space, which only has standard-width door access. The facility has an ADA-compliant all-gender restroom.
  • Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events. However, attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.
  • Please contact us with any accessibility needs or requests.
