2025 Volunteers of the Year: Russ & Lynette

Two "polaroids" of the 2025 volunteers of the year. The left one has the NE Seattle Tool Library volunteer of the year, Russ, who is kneeling on one knee in an outside space. The left one has the Shoreline Tool Library volunteer of the year, Lynette, who is taking a selfie with their hand to the chin.
If you've been around the tool libraries, you've definitely been impacted by the support of Russ and Lynette, who helped us through many hours of tool librarian shifts, classes, special projects, and so much more last year! It is thanks to volunteers like them that we are able to support the community in so many ways. Russ and Lynette, thank you 💚

Russ has been a quiet force of action within our organization this year. What started as a commitment to staffing the NESTL Bike Shack every Saturday morning quickly evolved into a dedication to improving our systems and structures.  His disciplined demeanor and consistency have been a beacon through all the changes this year. He has contributed to our Finance Committee, Hiring Committee, Bike Shack lead meetings, and provided guidance through many operational challenges. He has taught our community members and volunteers bike maintenance skills, assisted the staff with bookkeeping, contributed to setting up our budget, and brought so many smiles to our faces.  Russ has done an insane amount of work for our tool libraries, and we are grateful to have him!

Lynette exemplifies the spirit of Seattle REconomy - generous, enthusiastic, positive, and compassionate. She has been a consistent, calm force at the Shoreline Tool Library as a tool librarian since its inception. Last year, she took on an even greater role as a valued member of our STL Steering Committee, and in 2025, she taught our first Women+ Intro to Power Tools class, which helped create a safe and welcoming space for folks to learn. Lynette is always ready to volunteer for whatever needs to be done. Last-minute help for a night shift at the library, Lynette is ready. Need to pick up a garage full of tool donations, not a problem. Finding a buyer for hundreds of excess shower heads, Lynette's your woman. Thank you for being you, Lynette!
