About Lynette
Born and raised on a small farm in Wisconsin well before the term “circular economy” was used (much), I learned from my dad that rather than buying new “most” things could be fixed with baling twine and fencing wire. It was on that farm that my love of tools and fixing things and building things was fostered. It wasn’t until later that I learned fixing tricks with duct tape and even later that I came to appreciate used clothing – one of the best being they don’t shrink when you launder them for the first time!
Much more recently, after 35 years in health care, I found myself unemployed and looking for a new job, of course, but also for a way to have some fun and make use of myself in the meantime. I joined the STL volunteers in late 2023 during the tool inventory phase because I love everything “tools!” I got a new job, but I’ve continued volunteering because of the interesting and welcoming community of people and the mission and values of the organization.
