Hügelkultur is a centuries-old, low-maintenance, traditional way of building a garden bed from decaying logs and plant debris. Hügelkultur relies on decaying organic materials piled on top of each other to keep vegetable plants fed as they grow. When set up properly, Hügelkultur beds require very little maintenance.
Joann will introduce you to the Hügelkultur style of gardening, discuss the positive reasons to build a garden this way, and go through the steps of constructing one. She will also provide information on the materials you’ll need to build your own Hügelkultur.
The class setting will be Joann’s NE Seattle garden. The exact address will be emailed to folks prior to the class beginning. If you do not see the address in your inbox a couple of days before the class date, please email info@seattlereconomy.org.
