Fruit Tree Care 101 (S4) @ STL

John will facilitate and lead a discussion about basic fruit tree biology and fruit tree structure, and why we prune or don’t prune based on goals and the species of tree or shrub. He will demonstrate some basic fruit tree pruning techniques and call out things to avoid that might cause damage to fruit trees while pruning.
Class supplies to be provided by students:
- Students must provide their own safety glasses and gloves.
- They are welcome to bring their own hand saws, pruners, and loppers to learn some tricks of the trade in using them.
About the instructor, John Zehren: John brings to this class his background in teaching plant amnesty pruning classes. He has owned and operated Renaissance Tree Care for over 35 years and has taught his employees everything they need to know for tree care. John has a four-year degree in urban forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and an Arborist credential from the International Society of Arboriculture.
