Ami is an incredible volunteer who helps out primarily as a woodshop steward, where he supports members by leading orientations and jumping in frequently to host open hours. Ami is also a fixture at monthly Fix-It Nights, where he patiently supports our members while bringing a fun personality to match his expertise. Everyone
loves working with Ami. We are so grateful to have him as one of our volunteers!
If you've spent any time at the Shoreline Tool Library this year, you have likely met Bob Shields, our Volunteer of the Month for May 2026. Bob introduced himself to us in January and has been helping out at the library three, four, even five shifts each week since. Bob's wonderful mix of humor, cheerfulness, and confident know-how makes our library such a vibrant and welcoming place for all of us - staff, volunteers, and members alike. What does Bob do at the library? Maybe it's better to ask what Bob doesn't do, which would be a difficult question to answer. He helps members choose the right tools, he provides advice and project guidance, he works the front desk, he does all of the little things that need doing, and perhaps above all, Bob fixes things. With curiosity, patience, and experience, he's kept an uncountable number of tools in good shape and in circulation for the community. Bob's an educator by profession, but at the library, he is part of the connective tissue that makes this whole thing work. We couldn't be more grateful that he chooses to spend his time with us. Thank you, Bob, and congratulations!
With the launch of our new space in Lake City, Afton has jumped into action, helping us prepare the facility for all the greatness to come. Alongside the painting, patching, and remodeling, Afton has also been a generous teacher, multiplying our volunteer power by sharing tips and tricks of his collected skills. Thank you for helping us push this bold new idea forward!
