Create Your Own Walnut Cutting Board (Workshop Orientation Required)

June 18 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$50.00 - $100.00
Over two class sessions, you’ll create your very own hardwood cutting board to take home!

Please note that this two-session class requires all students to have taken the NE Seattle Tool Library’s “Workshop Orientation Class”, which is registered for separately. You can find upcoming Workshop Orientations on our class schedule.

In this hands-on, two-part class, participants will learn how to make their own custom hardwood cutting board. We’ll cover wood selection, measuring and cutting, gluing and clamping, using a router for edge finishing, and sanding and oiling the final product. Each student will go home with a functional and beautiful cutting board they’ve crafted themselves.

Safety and tool-handling basics will be covered at the beginning of the class. Students are required to bring their own safety goggles, dust mask and ear protection. All other supplies will be provided by the instructor.

Please only register for this class if you have already taken our Workshop Orientation or if you have registered to take a Workshop Orientation prior to June 18th. If you have not taken this prerequisite, you will not be able to attend the cutting board class.

This class is over the course of two days (Wednesday June 18, 5-8pm & Saturday June 21, 4-7pm). Please be sure you can make it to both of the class periods and register only for the first date listed, June 18.

About the instructor, Alok: Alok is a woodworking enthusiast with hands-on experience in creating functional and aesthetic wooden items, including cutting boards, shelves, and small furniture. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with others and believes that working with wood is not only practical but deeply satisfying. His approach to teaching is beginner-friendly and focuses on safety, fundamentals, and craftsmanship.

Our sliding scale for classes helps to reduce barriers for participation while retaining sufficient income for Seattle REconomy, which owns and operates the NE Seattle and Shoreline tool libraries. Please choose the level that best fits your family’s income.
