Tool Library Book Club

October 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free
We will discuss “Afterglow: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors” edited by Grist. Wearing your Halloween costume is welcome (and optional)!

Join us for the seventh edition of the NE Seattle Tool Library’s book club! We’ll be reading the Afterglow: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors edited by Grist. As a fun extra, we invite you to come in your Halloween costume (completely optional)!

All are welcome at bookclub, we hope to see you there for some discussion and community building.

Looking for a copy? There are a handful at the Seattle Public Libraries and King County Libraries. We also suggest a thriftbooks.com and betterworldbooks.com for ordering used books.

Our group agreements are as follows:

  • Respect! Respect people’s opinions, pronouns, bodies, spaces, and time.
  • Keep it flowing. While we wish we could be at book club all night, we only have an hour and a half. Please be mindful of leaving room for everyone to speak.
  • Lead with curiosity. This is a place for expanding our ideas of whats possible!
  • If you haven’t read the book, you are still welcome! No need to read the book to come and participate in our community, all are welcome <3

If you would like to prepare for the following month, we will be reading “Gathering Moss” by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

ACCESSIBILITY:

  • Much of the NE Seattle Tool Library interior is wheelchair accessible.  All entrances have ramps that may exceed a 5 degree slope. The all-gender restroom is quite small and not ADA compliant.
  • Non-English and ASL interpreters are not provided at our classes and events, however attendees are welcome to bring their own interpreters.
  • Please contact us with any accessibility notes or requests.

GETTING THERE:

  • By transit: Served by King County Metro bus route 372 stopping along Lake City Way NE at NE 98th St.  Route 61 stops at NE Northgate Way & 23rd Ave NE and is a ½ mile walk from the tool library.
  • By bike: There are multiple bicycle route options available to the tool library, and you are welcome to stow your bicycle inside the tool library during your visit.
  • Car parking: There is a gravel parking lot that fits about 10 cars, and an asphalt parking lot that fits 5 cars. There is no ADA accessible parking.
